  Autumn Mums was one of my first Plein Air paintings done in front of my Louisville, Kentucky home.  I really enjoyed rendering the lights and darks. I painted it in three or four sessions and the plant lived a long and happy life for me, luckily! It is currently for sale at the Foundry Artist Co op in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Of course artists take liberty with the composition of subjects -- that's part of the fun and necessary in many cases. The lovely aqua backdrop  fits much better showing off the mum than a drab dull brick. We artists in the Penn National Community in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania are having "Open Studio" weekend soon, the first weekend in December. People can come visit 7 artists who have home studios, so big preparations are underway. More to follow on that. Enjoy glorious autumn and care for your mums on frosty nights. Where did summer go???

  This is the second piece of my series of Santorini paintings. I love the blue and white in this oil painting at sunset. When you look at the architecture of the town, it just looks like white buildings against a cerulean blue sea, but it's not! As a painter, I see the greys of cast shadows, the cream-colored tints and the stunning and graceful curves of windows and walls each with their own values of grey, lavender and white! Who knows, maybe there's one more Santorini piece in me yet! I just love this place, and I plan to get there someday. I just was notified that my "miniature" painting of Santorini has been juried into a large art show including artists all over the east, and locally here in Pennsylvania.   Ahhhh, the isle of Santorini Greece. Blue skies and seas, white dwellings and delicious fresh seafood. This is my dream vacation! I painted this large framed painting  in oil, and plan to get there someday! Enjoy!

 Have you ever seen the northern lights? I have not, but I can imagine them! All different colors of beautiful lights.  I hope you enjoy my latest painting of Aurora Borealis, or the northern lights! This was really a joy to create adding all the bright colors, and I went a little wild with the green, my favorite color!

  Greetings from a winter wonderland. T his piece on a black canvas was a joy to paint. Using a palette knife to sculpt the mountains, coupled with some brush strokes for the icy lake and foreground, I created this lovely chilly scene. The sky turned out beautifully with some purple and lavender hues. I used thick and thin oil paint to get the effect. Brrrrr.... Peaceful, serene and tinged with many shades of blues just brings out the glory of the Alaskan Mountains.  I've been there several times in winter which was my inspiration for this piece -- even took a dog sled ride!  Wear your parka and enjoy or own this piece of fine art.   I visited Rockport , Maine this past summer with a group of artists. I painted En Plein Air on beautiful harbors. Lots of grey skies, grey water and subdued hues that week. So, I jazzed it up a notch and really had fun adding some more lighter mauve hues with some fabulous blues!
